Vincent Meessen (US/BE) | A Broken Rule

SYNOPSIS

Six characters illuminate the night in an African city. Each of them carries a word. Once correctly put together these words produce a sentence that is poetic and political at the same time.
Similarly to other projects by Vincent Meessen, A Broken Rule is drawn from a public intervention distorted by the artist's filmic mise en récit, shuffling traditional codes and conventions. This video stands at the crossroads of performance, fiction, experimental music and documentary filmmaking, resulting in what can be read as a call and an invitation to an ‘irregular becoming’.
