SYNOPSIS

Evoking patterns of narrative cinema . ..... .:.:...:::ccccoCCoooo:: 's suggestive and atmospheric image spheres engage in the structure or substance of telling beyond the narrative.
Figures appear just in short fragments, for the actual actors are the images: images of images, that assert themselves in their own presence. Working with these images, each developing its own dramaturgy of light and movement, I was strongly inspired by apostrophe: the rhetorical figure where a speaker turns away from the audience and directly addresses someone absent or an inanimate object - and that way attributes animation to the object, attempts to make it potentially responsive. Thus, unlike other tropes, apostrophy makes its point by troping not on the meaning of a word but on the situation of communication itself. In a similar way I try to untie images from what they show or represent to make them point from the shown to the vision, to the act of seeing. The ‘speaking’ of the images, their (rhetorical) actions, the action of looking come to the fore - the images no longer represent (a narrative), they become the narrative.
In this spirit . ..... .:.:...:::ccccoCCoooo:: is not the actual title (though it serves as such) but a typographical pointer to the real title in its visual presence: the first image of the film.
