SYNOPSIS

In Lecture with Actress (1997), an actress performs a lecture on stage, and is introduced as the artist Barbara Visser. With no prior knowledge about the work of Barbara Visser, she repeats the words prompted to her by the artist from backstage. In Lecture on Lecture with Actress (2004) a second actress is again instructed to repeat the words of the artist, this time reflecting on the previous event, illustrated with images. Finally, Last Lecture (Museum De Paviljoens Almere, during the exhibition Vertaalde Werken/ Translated Works, Barbara Visser 1990 – 2006 on April 12, 2007) is the closing performance. Here a black shadow speaks the words of the second actress shown life-size on video without sound.
